Dr. Sarah Dermody

Dr. Sarah S. Dermody (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Ryerson University and director of the Clinical Addictions Research and Equity (CARE) Lab. Dr. Dermody’s research focuses on alcohol and cigarette use and dependence across the lifespan, with an emphasis of understanding differences in substance use patterns and harms based on one’s gender and sexual identities. As part of the HOPE Centre, Dr. Dermody plans to do research examining alcohol usage patterns and harms experienced by transgender young adults and adults. Further, she aims to develop interventions to further promote the well-being of individuals with minoritized sexual and gender minorities, specifically in relation to their substance use and related mental health concerns.
